DOVER - Aiko Shimizu Moore, 79, of Dover, and Heathrow, Fla., passed away at Temple University Hospital after a long illness. Aiko grew up in Nagoya, Japan, and married Paul Moore in 1954. Paul and Aiko were married 55 years and raised their three children, Paul Jr., Frank, and Lillian. She was an Air Force wife and established several successful family businesses. Aiko loved her adopted country and became a patriotic American in every sense of the word. She loved watching her sons play football and her daughter play tennis at Caesar Rodney High School. She was a well known face at PTA meetings. She knew that the path of success began with a proper education. Each of her children attended the University of Delaware and each graduated law school. Aiko loved animals, often taking in stray dogs. Her love of life and dedication to her family will forever be remembered. Aiko was the heart of the family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Paul; and her three children, Paul Moore Jr. (Mariam), Frank Moore (Thyra), and Lillian Moore Dowd (Steven); five grandchildren, and by two sisters who reside in Japan, Sachiko Shimizu and Yoko Ishii. Memorial service will be private. In lieu of flowers, a donation to an animal shelter/charity of your choice would be appreciated. Letter of condolences can be sent via www.pippinfuneralhome.com.
