DOVER - Yvonne Delores "Bon-Bon" Garnett Wilson of Dover triumphantly transitioned on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007 at Capitol Healthcare in Dover. She was 76.
Yvonne was born in Philadelphia on March 18, 1931, to the late Herbert and Mary Garnett.
She was educated in Philadelphia and for many years was the manager of a clothing factory.
In her younger years, she was a dancer and a model. She was known throughout the city for her charity work and was actively involved with social networking groups such as the Guardsmen and the Old Philadelphians.
On Jan. 1, 1953, "Bon-Bon" became the bride of the late Judge Calvin Thomas Wilson Sr. Their marriage and friendship embraced 42 years.
From their love union, one son was born, Calvin Thomas Wilson II, M.D. Yvonne became the proud grandmother to Jessica Lauren and Calvin "Chipper" Wilson, III whom she adored.
Since 2005, she has resided in Dover near her family.
We will remember Yvonne for her fabulous and flamboyant fashions. She loved attending social events and making a fashion statement upon her entrance into a room.
Her strength and style glowed as she faced her physical challenges and demonstrated her determination to be more than a conqueror in life.
Yvonne was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Germantown for more than 40 years and served as a trustee's aid.
Yvonne modeled great endurance and unwavering hope in her living. She continued to reflect unrelenting courage unto the very end of her journey. "Bon-Bon" was guided by God's counsel and now has been received into His glory.
"Bon-Bon" leaves a legacy of grateful family and friends. She will be cherished in our memories.
She is survived by her son Calvin (Sharon Monet); two grandchildren, Jessica Lauren and Calvin "Chipper" III; a loving sister-in-law, Thelma; many nieces and nephews; and a host of loving and kind friends.
