WYOMING - Wilson J. Weeks of Wyoming died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006, in Silver Lake Center. He was 87.
Mr. Weeks was born Feb. 18, 1919, in West Hartland, Conn., son of the late Treadwell and Elizabeth (Osborne) Weeks. He was the fourth child of fifteen children.
He was a proud veteran, serving in the U.S. Army serving during World War II with the U.S. Corps of Engineers in the South Pacific. He received an honorable discharge in 1946.
Mr. Weeks worked many years in Connecticut in the construction world. After moving to Delaware he established W.J. Weeks Construction Co. He also worked as foreman on bridges for Matt Mitten for five years, then returned to working for himself until his death. In addition to building private homes, he also built the former Lieberman Furniture Store on Governors Avenue and the building at 1071 S. Governors Ave., Dover. He also did two additions to the former Frank Matthews Store in Wyoming, which is now Witt Bros. Market.
Mr. Weeks was a former member of Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, Lodge 1903, Dover, and a life member of American Legion Post 2, Dover.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Weeks; three brothers; and a sister.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Carolyn Carson Weeks; two daughters, Ruth Lynn Capoziello of Wilmington and Sandra Weeks Reagan of Middletown; a son, Dennis Weeks of Tullahoma, Tenn.; eight brothers and two sisters locally to include, Arthur, Henry, Walter, and Marge Voshell, all of Camden; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Friday in Wyoming United Methodist Church, 107 Broad St., Wyoming.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Wyoming United Methodist Church Building Fund, 112 Broad St., Wyoming, DE 19934.
