Wilson Edward Trott Sr., 85

MCDANIEL, Md. - Wilson Edward Trott Sr. of McDaniel died Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, in the Genesis Elder Care-The Pines, Easton. He was 85.

He was born April 29, 1922, to the late Robert and Henrietta (Rideout) Trott.

Wilson was educated in the St. Michaels School and later attended Maryland State College (now University of Maryland Eastern Shore).

In his earlier years, he resided in Georgetown, Del., and worked at the Thoro-Kleen Cleaners to provide for his family.

Wilson was a hard-working, loving and caring man.

He was affectionately known as "Trott," and was well-liked by all who came to know him.

Later on, Wilson moved back to McDaniel, working at Waverly Press in Easton, as well as other jobs in the St. Michaels area.

He loved gardening, watching sports and chit-chatting with family and friends. He had a good sense of humor. He often shared his produce with others who stopped by to talk.

In addition to his parents, Wilson was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Pettyjohn; a son, Wilson Edward Trott Jr.; a special cousin/caretaker, Ronald Trott; 10 siblings; and four grandchildren.

He is survived by a daughter, Peggy Trott of Georgetown; a daughter-in-law, Janie Trott of Milford; two stepchildren, Joyce Ann Ricketts and Earl May, both of Millsboro, Del.; a special nephew who was like a son, Nathaniel Trott and his wife Willia of McDaniel; two sisters, Henrietta Batson of Rhodesdale and Elizabeth Whiting of Washington, D.C.; six grandchildren, Tamyra, Sheila, Gregory, Tanya, Kaneisha and Jamel; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 426 E. Dover Road, Easton, where friends may attend a viewing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be only one viewing.

Interment will be in the Charles Thomas Cemetery, St. Michaels.
