DOVER - William "Chip" Vandewater passed away Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 at Kent General Hospital. Mr. Vandewater was born Jun. 29, 1950 in Dover to the late, Robert L. Vandewater and Charlotte J. Porter. He served in the United States Marines for three years. Mr. Vandewater worked over 40 years in the HVAC industry, as an oil burner mechanic for several companies including, Charlie Paradee, Rays Heating & Plumbing, Eastern Shore Energy and then for himself. He started in the industry by working with his father which is how he learned the trade. Mr. Vandewater will be fondly remembered for doing everything perfect and would help anyone in need. He enjoyed R.C. cars and spending time with his children. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four siblings, Charles, Bobby, Chub and Ray. He is survived by his sons, Michael Vandewater and his wife, Kimberly of Laurel, Dustin Vandewater and his wife, Christie of Magnolia, and Brandon Vandewater and his wife, Jessica of Dover; daughter, Wendy Cooke and her husband, James of Camden; brother, Curtis Porter of Hartly; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his companion, Linda Ridgeway. Memorial gathering will be held from 1 P.M. to 6 P.M., Sunday, Mar. 1, 2015 at Willow Run Community Center, Road 252, Felton. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to AI DuPont Hospital for Children, Nemours Fund For Children's Health, Shands House, 1600 Rockland Road, Wilmington, Del. 19803 Letters of condolences may be sent and guest book signed
