DOVER - William Thomas Thornburg of Dover died on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at his home. He was 73.
Mr. Thornburg was born April 18, 1934, in Pittsburgh, Pa., son of the late William Edward and Camilla Rose Bridgeman Thornburg.
Mr. Thornburg enjoyed working in services; he was retired from the U.S. Air Force and the state prison system.
He work part time for the State Fleet Services.
Mr. Thornburg was loving husband and father.
He loved his family and dog Kuma very much.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor, and witty comments.
He was lifelong member of FOP Lodge 3.
Mr. Thornburg was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Marina B. Filler Thornburg in 2006.
He is survived by sons, William E. and his wife Laura of Middletown, Paul A. Thornburg of Middletown, Stephen T. Thornburg of Dover; daughter, Jean C. Taylor and her husband Ralph of Dover; grandchildren, Matthew J. Smenkowski, Joshua N. Thornburg, Aneya B. Taylor, Devan Taylor, William T. Thornburg, Lillian B. Thornburg, and Megan Slaughter.
Friends may call at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, where funeral services will be noon.
Burial will be at Sharon Hill Memorial Park, Dover.
Instead of flowers, contributions can be made to the Salvation Army or Compassionate Care Hospice, 5610 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808.
