GEORGETOWN - William T. Banning, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Bayhealth/Milford Memorial Hospital. William was born in Milton, son of the late Vinal and Pauline (Carroll) Banning. He worked with E.I. Dupont company at the Chestnut Run Facility for 36 years, retiring as Supervisor of the Textile Lab in 1982. He loved flowers. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Delema Jester. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Vietta (Wilson) Banning; a son, William C. Banning, Sr., of Georgetown; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Longshaw and Gary, of Newark; seven grandchildren, William Christopher Banning, Jr., Robin Denise Kemper, Kelly Renee Warren, Adam Thomas Banning, Brent Hudson, Jennifer Paige Pavlock and Sean Michael Mahoney; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Nancy Burress, of Milford. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 9, 2012 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, with visitation from noon to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park.
