William 'Guillermo' Ochoa, 63

DOVER - William "Guillermo" Ochoa of Dover died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, in his home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 63.

Mr. Ochoa was born Jan. 25, 1944, in Waukegan, Ill., to the late Ignacio Ochoa Sr. and Margarita (Velasco) Ochoa.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, retiring in 1987 as a senior master sergeant after 22 years.

Mr. Ochoa was an air traffic controller and was chosen as the Watch Supervisor of the Year for Air Traffic Control in 1982 for national recognition.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans Affairs and of Holy Cross Catholic Church, Dover.

Mr. Ochoa was an unofficial tour guide of Washington, D.C., and was an expert historian.

He also enjoyed photography.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Janice Marie (Busker) Ochoa of Dover; two sons, Thomas J. Harthan of Deer Creek, Minn., and Todd Eugene Harthan of Magnolia; two daughters, Tami Marie Harthan of Dover and Kim Maria Ochoa of Wilmington; four brothers, Ignacio Ochoa Jr., Michael Ochoa, Ralph Ochoa and Peter Ochoa, all of Waukegan; three sisters, Mary Lou Bugge, Maria Teresa "Marite" Ochoa-Sierra and Carmen Pearce, all of Waukegan; and four grandchildren, Thomas J. Harthan Jr., Trevor Mitchell Grimes, Tyler Vincent Harthan and Abigail Alexandra Veith.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Cross Church, 631 S. State St., Dover.

Interment will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301, Attn: Gift Processing; or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, One St. Jude Place, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 300, Memphis, TN 38148-0552, Attn; Memorial/Honor Program.
