William 'Pop' Mohr, 88
GREENWOOD - William "Pop" Mohr, of Greenwood, died Saturday, May 31, 2008, in his residence surrounded by family and friends. He was 88.
He was born on April 29, 1920, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Jacob and Minnie (Hempling) Mohr.
Mr. Mohr served his country in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Mohr worked for more than 50 years as a machinist, starting out in New York and retiring in 1981 from Baltimore Air Coil.
He enjoyed going to the track and watching the horse races and enjoyed going to the Harrington Slots.
In his spare time he loved to go fishing.
Mr. Mohr was a member of American Legion Post 7, and the Harrington Senior Center.
Mr. Mohr will be truly missed.
His joy was helping other people when they needed his help.
The top priority in his life was his family. They could always count on him being there for them.
He was proud of his children and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He felt spoiling them was his duty.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Dorothy Mohr, in 1987; six brothers; and four sisters.
He is survived by two sons, William "Bill" Mohr and wife Pat of Farmington, and Robert A. Mohr and wife Diane of Riverview, Fla.; three daughters, Eleanor Lindenmeier of Farmington, RoseMarie D. Thurau of Harrington and Dorothy M. Remus and husband Edward of Farmington; a brother, Henry Mohr of Long Island, N.Y.; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington, where friends may call from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
Interment will be in Milford Community Cemetery.
Family suggests donations to Milford Hospice or Farmington Ladies Auxiliary.
