FELTON - William M. Vincent Sr. passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017, at the Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital. Mr. Vincent was born in Bridgeport, W.Va., to the late, Clifford D. and Florence W. Vincent.
Mr. Vincent quit school when he was 16 to work on area farms to help support his family. He joined the United States Air Force once he turned 18, and served his country proudly for the next 20 years, retiring as a Tech Sgt. He acquired his GED once enlisted so that he could be promoted within the ranks. During his time in the service, he was a Missile Facility Technician and loved working on missiles. He was on the first all Air Force team to launch the first ICBM missile out of California, his greatest and most proud accomplishment in his military career. He retired as the First Sgt of the Communication Squadron at Little Rock Air Force base in 1972. After his retirement, and moving to Delaware, he went to work for over 16 years for the State of Delaware in their maintenance yard.
Mr. Vincent enjoyed eating at Cheddars and Bob Evans. He loved going to the Harrington Slots on Friday and Saturday nights with his circle of friends for a night of dancing. He will be remembered as a happy, full of life person who knew everybody and made a friend no matter where he went. He will be sadly missed.
Mr. Vincent was a member and attended the Trinity United Methodist Church of Felton, and he also enjoyed going to The Last Call Church of Milford. He was a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge, a member of the American Legion Post #7 of Harrington, and a member of the Delaware Democratic Party.
