MILTON - William L. Reed, Jr., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at home surrounded by his family. William was born in Lewes, son of the late William L. Sr., and Eldora (Meigs) Reed. He was a Master Sergeant with Delaware Army National Guard for 34 years, retiring in 1985 and worked for 10 years as a mechanic with Cape May-Lewes Ferry, retiring in 1995. He then worked security for Sussex County Council for 5 years. William was a life member of American Legion Post #28, associate member of Georgetown-Ellendale VFW, Past Master and member of Endeavor Lodge #17, and member of Milton Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed playing pool and loved to fish. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Jo Ann Reed; a daughter, Susan Beth Reed; and a sister, Anita Reese. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Ann (Davis) Reed; two children, Bruce Reed and wife Belinda, of Greenwood and Victoria Williams and husband Charles, of Milton; three step-children; six grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal Street, Milton, with visitation after 5 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21803 or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
