ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - William L. "Bill" Orange of Elizabethtown died Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, in the Masonic Village Health Care Center. He was 76.

Mr. Orange was born April 7, 1929, in Heilwood, Pa., son of the late Lenard S. and Ruth Campbell Orange.

He was a 1951 graduate of St. Francis College, Loretto, Pa., with a bachelor"s degree in biology and minor in chemistry.

Mr. Orange enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951. He retired in 1978 as a highly decorated full colonel from Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.

During his career he served in Korea and Vietnam and two separate assignments at Dover Air Force Base

He and his wife lived on Andrews Lake Road in Frederica, Del., for 21 years before moving to Pennsylvania.

While in Delaware, Mr. Orange was chairman of the board for the Kent County Theater Guild. He was instrumental in acquiring the land and building for the Patchwork Playhouse of the Kent County Theater Guild in support of his wife, Peggy.

Mr. Orange received the following awards and decorations: the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (AF), Air medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, AF Outstanding Unit Citation, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, AF Longevity Service Award, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, United Nations Service Medal and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marguerite "Peggy" Sparks Orange; a brother, Lenard Orange of Ebensburg, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services with full military honors will be June 6, 2007, in Arlington National Cemetery, Va.

Instead of flowers the family suggests taking a friend to a show at the Patchwork Playhouse.
