William Joseph 'Bill' Wilson, 64
WOODSIDE - William Joseph "Bill" Wilson, of Woodside, went home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2009, with his family at his side. He was 64. He was born on Feb. 9, 1945, to the late Earl Francis and Margaret Eliza (Clark) Wilson of Willow Grove. Bill attended Caesar Rodney High School. He retired in June of 2008 after working some 40 years for George & Lynch and Tilcon as a heavy equipment operator, taking pride in the fact of never missing a day of work. Bill was a member of the Willow Grove Church of God, Willow Grove, and the Calvary Assembly of God, Dover. He also was a member of the Delaware Standardbred Owners Association and previously on the Woodside Town Council. He enjoyed camping at Eagle's Nest, traveling, especially to Florida, bowling, harness racing, was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan, and spending time with his six grandchildren, which were the love of his life. He also enjoyed helping his wife with her lawncare business and servicing her equipment. Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Francis Wilson Jr.; and four sisters, Margaret Virginia Coursey, Ruth Eleanor Walker, Dorothy Anna Luff, and Florence May Luff. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dorothy Marie Moore Wilson whom he married on Dec. 31, 1964; two sons, William Joseph Wilson Jr. and his wife Michele of Dover, and Bryan Keith Wilson and his wife Frannie of Magnolia; a daughter, Valerie Lynn Burd and her husband Douglas of Milford; six grandchildren, Kaleb M. Burd, Andrew J. Wilson, Jacob O. Wilson, Dylan M. Wilson, Samantha M. Wilson, and Kasie N. Burd; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry R. Wilson and his wife Janet of Kentucky, and James Wilson and his wife Gail of Dover; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Hazel K. Korell of Henderson, Md., Violet J. Mullins and her husband Charles of Elkton, Md., and Patricia L. Hurley and her husband James of Dover; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 22 at the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 23 at the funeral home with Rev. Milton Kemp officiating. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. The Wilson family would like to extend their gratitude to Delaware Hospice and to Dr. Gregory Masters and his staff of the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center for their care and support during the period of his illness.
