CLEARWATER, FL - William J. Walls, formerly of Chestertown, Md., died on Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, in the East Bay Nursing Home in Clearwater. He was 68. Known as Bill, he was born in Wilmington, Del., and was the son of the late Paul Fred Walls and Sarah Elizabeth Beck who were then living in Cecil County, Md. As a child, Mr. Walls lived in Chestertown, and attended High School in Rock Hall. He grew up crabbing and fishing, activities he loved all of his life. He became a heavy equipment operator, last working in Sparrows Point in Baltimore. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Union 13. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Richard Walls, James Gordon Walls, and Charles Stare; and one sister, Doris Mae Hadaway. Mr. Walls is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Walls of Clearwater; one son, William J. Walls Jr. of Clearwater; two sisters, Betty J. Diaz and her husband George of Ridgely, and Nancy M. Manley of Harrington. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St., Denton, where friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Ridgely Cemetery in Ridgely. The family suggests, if a friend does not want to send flowers, to send memorial donations to a charity of your choice; or to the Moore Funeral Home, 12 S. Second St., Denton, MD 21629.
