William H. Loomis, Ret. MSgt., of Dover, passed away March 14, 2025 at Brookdale Assisted Living, Dover.
He was born in Flint, MI on August 28, 1930 to the late Floyd and Mary Loomis of Cleo, MI.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Viola Loomis, 2 sons, Thomas and Stephen Loomis, Sister, Beth Sanford, and brothers Jack and Robert Loomis of Michigan.
He is survived by his daughter Donna DiMaria (Peter), 2 daughters-in-law, Marlene Loomis and Robyn Schenkenberger (Tom), 4 grandchildren, Michelle Phillips of Texas, Kara Dennison (Jack), Laurel Butmankiewicz (Emmanuel), both of Tennessee, Tyler Loomis (Jessica) of Delaware, and 3 great children, Eloise, Wolfe, and Crew.
Mr. Loomis served in the U.S. Military for 20 years; 4 years Navy, 16 years Air Force (1950-1971). He also worked 20 years for the State of Delaware Dept. of Labor as Veterans Employment Interviewer, retiring in 1991.
William was a lifetime member and past Exulted Ruler of Dover DE Elks Lodge, BPOE 1903. He was also a lifetime member of DAV #1, Camden, DE and a member of the American Legion Post #2 of Dover, DE.
Mr. Loomis enjoyed the game of golf. He was a member of the Eagle Creek Golf Course and participated in Misca Tournaments.
William was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church, Dover, DE since 1972. Mr. Loomis mostly loved time spent with family, especially the grandchildren.
Services will be held 1PM Friday, March 28th at the Funeral Home of Michael J Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover, where friends may call starting at 11:00 AM. Interment with Military Honors will be held 1PM Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in his memory to St. Jude Children's Hospital www.stjude.org. Condolences may be made via www.ambruso.com
