MILLSBORO - William F. German Sr. of Millsboro, formerly of Indian Mills and Monroeville, N.J. passed away at his home on Thursday, May 24, 2007. He was 68.
He was born in Philadelphia, son of the late, Elwell and Mary (Maier) German.
William was a retired foundry superintendent with Sorenson Industries in Darby, Pa. and he served with the National Guard.
He was a member of the Delaware Manufacturing Homes Association. He enjoyed fishing with his dog, Muffin, and crabbing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Ann Branda.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Barbara (Funk) German; two sons, William German Jr. and his wife, Kathy, Robert German and his wife, Melissa; two daughters, Candie Abrams and her husband, Everett, Dawn Matera and her husband, Gary, all of New Jersey; a brother, Elwell German Jr. of Pa.; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Long Neck Road in Millsboro, where friends may call after noon. Burial will be private.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21805.
