William Edward Hamm

SMYRNA - William Edward Hamm, formerly of Warminster, Pa., passed away Monday, May 26th. He was 77. Bill was born April 19, 1937 in Honolulu Hawaii to the late Ethelwyn Frias and Jack Gaughen and was adopted by the late William and Helen Hamm, Jr. He had worked for Container Corporation of America which then became Jefferson-Smurfit in North Wales as a purchasing agent for 32 years retiring in 2002. When his daughters were young he was active in the Girl Scouts with them and his wife PJ. After he and PJ retired they moved to Smyrna where he got very involved volunteering for the Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village, in Dover. He had received several acknowledgements for all his volunteering hours. Bill enjoyed cooking especially foods from other countries, fishing, traveling, socializing, dancing and playing his keyboard/organ. In the past year and a half, one of his biggest enjoyments was spending time with his great granddaughter Haileigh who he lovingly nicknamed "His Stinker". In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Arthur Stover He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of almost 57 years, Paulajane Jacobs Hamm of Smyrna; his daughters, Cheryl Lee Hamm and her husband Richard "Smitty" Smith of Croydon, Pa. and Sharon Stover Rollings and her husband Scott of Hartly; his grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Stover of Felton and Christian Smith of Croydon; and his great-granddaughter, Haileigh Marie of Felton; his brother, John Jensen of California; sisters, Mabel "Chee Chee" DeCambra and Julina Lung of Hawaii; his aunt, Lulu Draper of Alabama; and many nieces, nephews and cousins in Hawaii and the mainland. Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Agricultural Museum and Village, 866 N Dupont Hwy, Dover, DE 19901, in Bill's memory.
