DOVER - William E. (Cadillac) Newman died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 in Bayhealth Kent General Hospital. Mr. Newman was born Jan. 24, 1932 in Long Branch, N.J. to the late Edward and Lethia Hunter Newman. Mr. Newman served in the US Army. Following his military service, he worked for Reichold Chemicals for 30 years. He enjoyed country music, Phillies baseball and wrestling. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; and sister. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Anna Mildred Hughes Newman; two sons, John Hughes and wife Cindy of Glen Burnie, Md., and William Newman, Jr. of Dover; four daughters, Lynn Newman of Denver, Colo., Julia Lemon and husband Thomas of Houston, Del., Nancy Coker and husband Donald of Cheswold, and Yvonne Daubert of Smyrna; brother, John Gaines of Cheswold; nine grandchildren, Nicole, Chelsea, Leslie, Lori, William, Michael, Tiffany, Andrew and Christopher; and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, April 22, 2013 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be in Immanuel United Methodist Church Cemetery, in Cheswold. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at torbertfuneral.com.
