Willard Salisbury Hughes, 91

DOVER - Willard Salisbury Hughes, 91, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, in Milford Memorial Hospital. He was born on Nov. 6, 1917, in Sandtown, son of the late Alvin and Mabel (Kemp) Hughes. Willard served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for Richardson and Robbins of Dover and later for the Caesar Rodney School District from which he retired. He enjoyed gardening. Willard is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Josette Hughes; a daughter, Patricia Hudson and her husband Edward of Lincoln; four siblings, Frances Hurd of Marydel, Pauline Tatman of Harrington, Eugene Hughes of Felton, and Loretta Poore of Woodside; a grandchild, Amanda Hurd and her husband Wayne of Milford; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Hurd, and Faith Hurd, both of Milford; and a brother-in-law, Louis Peirani of Nice, France. Graveside service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, at Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Delaware Veterans Blvd., Milford, DE 19963.
