MARDELA SPRINGS, Md. - Willard Archie Reynolds Sr. of Mardela Springs died Sunday, May 20, 2007, in his home. He was 78.
Born in Newark, Del., Willard was the son of the late Charles Daniel and Mollie (McGinnis) Reynolds.
He attended the Athol Baptist Church, was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and a former member of the Delaware Quarter Horse Association.
Willard was a heavy equipment operator and had a construction business in New Castle, Del., from the 1970s to 1980s, before moving to the Eastern Shore, where he and his wife bred and trained horses until his health failed in 2003. It was always hard to keep him from his passion of working in the barn.
He is survived by his loving wife, whom he married June 17, 1985, Michel Lynn (McCormick) Reynolds; four sons, Willard A. Jr. and his wife Shirley of Mardela Springs, Robert M. and his wife Betty of Newark, Joseph C. and his wife Sarahjane of Mardela Springs, and Willard C. of Seaford, Del.; a stepson, Shaun Monroe of Millsboro; six sisters, Sarah Bowerson and Carolyn Kendzierski, both of Smyrna, Del., Mildred Teague of Bear, Del., Hilda Wilson and Dorothy Zile, both of Newark, and Cathy Toller of New Castle; four brothers, Charles Reynolds, Louis Reynolds and Russell Reynolds, all of Newark, and Walter Reynolds of Bear; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha Humphrey and Carrie Reynolds.
A funeral service will be noon Saturday in Holloway Funeral Home, Salisbury, where friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Edwin F. Dennis will officiate.
Interment will be Saturday in Athol Baptist Church Cemetery, Mardela Springs.
