Widlens Gigi Eugene, 27

SEAFORD - Widlens Gigi Eugene, of Seaford, was born in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, on April 24, 1980, to Eliese Joceline Romain and Yves Saint-phard. He was the oldest of seven children. Gigi departed this life on Saturday, April 12, 2008, in Raleigh, N.C. He was 27.

He was raised by his aunt Micheline until age 13. He came to the United States in 1993.

Gigi received his high school diploma at Seaford Senior High School in 1999. He continued his education at National Business Technology College in Roanoke, Va., and majored in tourism and hospitality.

Growing up, he attended First Haitian Church of God, Seaford.

Gigi had a hidden talent only a few knew of - he loved to draw. He used to draw his dream house, dream car and Japanese cartoon characters.

Being the oldest and a jokester, he played practical jokes on all of the younger ones. Whenever there was a family gathering for Thanksgiving or Christmas, Gigi was always present to make the family laugh. He was known to be the life of the party.

Gigi loved to play soccer, football and video games.

He never liked being trapped inside the house. He would always try to find a way to get out of the house. He would call some his friends, such as Emmanuel "Tibebe," Tickens, Luckson "Lucky" or Gelgo "G," to play billiards, go out to eat or sometimes just to hang out in Ocean City, Md.

As Gigi grew into adulthood, he started showing interest in girls and he wanted some independence. He moved to Roanoke, where he met Sonya Blanckenship, the mother of his beautiful son, Deashawn William Eugene.

His younger brother Shonny always looked up to him and thought of him as his "homeboy."

He leaves cherishing his memory his parents, Yves Saint-phard and Eliese Joceline Romain; his son, Deashawn William Eugene; his six sisters, Josna Saint-phard, Jessie Romain, Yvelene Saint-phard, Stephanie Saint-phard, Medelinne Jean and Carlancia Jean; his two brothers, Shonny Saint-phard and Yvens Saint-phard; his stepfather, Wuilfrid Jean; stepmother, Yviola Saint-phard; his uncle, Jean Romain; his aunt, Micheline Debel; along with a host of close friends and families.

Funeral services will be 4 p.m. today at the Church of God, Stein Highway, Seaford.

Interment will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford.

Arrangements are being handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Seaford.
