Wayne V. VanAuken, 71

GEORGETOWN - Wayne V. VanAuken of Georgetown passed away, in his home on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, surrounded by his loving family. He was 71.

Mr. VanAuken was born in Sayre, Pa. on Sept. 7, 1936, son of the late James and Hazel Rowe VanAuken, who resided in Georgetown.

Mr. VanAuken retired from Preston Trucking Co. in 1996, was an active farmer and was recently employed at the Cheer Center in Roxana.

He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Georgetown.

He enjoyed working on their farm, traveling in his motor home and was an avid collector of coin banks and Hess trucks.

Mr. VanAuken is survived by his loving wife of 47 years of marriage, Patricia Wilson VanAuken; a son, Kevin VanAuken and wife Beth Ann of Ocean View; a daughter, Karliss Carmean and husband Kerry of Millsboro; a brother, Charles VanAuken of Millsboro; five grandchildren, Jessica Jester-Carmean, April Blevins, Jordan VanAuken, Kara-Beth Carmean and Jenna-Rae Carmean; and a great-grandson, Ryan Blevins.

A funeral service will be noon Saturday in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday.

Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery, Gravel Road, Del. 30, Georgetown.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
