Walter L. Hamilton

GEORGETOWN - Walter L. Hamilton, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018 at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford.
Walter was born in Ridley Park, Pa., to the late William W. and Etta (Joseph) Hamilton.
Walter served in the U.S. Army retiring after 25 years of service at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During the Korean Conflict, he served in the 5th regiment, while serving in Vietnam he was the Company Commander with the 11th Ordinance Company.
He also was a teacher at Lewes Christian School and Victory Christian Academy in Salisbury.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Franklin Lodge # 12, A.F. & A.M.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Elizabeth Long Hamilton; and son, Walter "Lee" Hamilton, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene "Warrington" Hamilton; children, Wayne W. Hamilton and wife Pattie and Karen Sue Monroe and husband Tom, all of Georgetown; step-daughter, Kristine Blackman and husband Garland of Easley, S.C.; daughter-in-law, Doris Hamilton; brother, Harold Hamilton and wife Libby of Salisbury; two sisters, Geraldine Davis and husband, Donald of Milford and Joy Hopkins of Lewes; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 5, 2018 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call Sunday night from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be in Redmen's Cemetery, Selbyville.
