Vivian 'Gram' (Johnson) Comegys, 78
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Vivian "Gram" (Johnson) Comegys of Chestertown died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, in Chester River Manor, Chestertown. She was 78.
Mrs. Comegys was born Oct. 10, 1928, in Chestertown, daughter of the late Ivory Johnson and the late Etta Bessick.
She received her education in Garnett Elementary and High School, Chestertown.
Mrs. Comegys had worked at Black and Decker in Easton, and after retiring from there, continued to work at Chestertown Rehabilitation Center as a sitter.
She enjoyed traveling, cooking, games and people of all ages. She was a community supporter to all and enjoyed everyone she knew.
Mrs. Comegys was a devoted member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, where she loved good preaching, singing and helping out wherever she could.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Romie Comegys; two daughters, Blonzetta Wilson and Paulette Saunders; a brother, Houston Bessick; and a grandson, Elvin Comegys Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Brown of Chestertown and Deborah Brown of Bridgeton, N.J.; two stepsons, Romie Comegys of Worton and Elvin Comegys Sr. of Ohio; a brother, Nathaniel Woodus; a sister, Jacqueline Giles; four grandsons, including one she raised, Montrow Trusty; five great-grandchildren; an adopted son, Robert Lindsey; and an adopted granddaughter.
Services will be 6 p.m. Friday in Bethel A.M.E. Church, Chestertown, where friends may call two hours earlier. The Rev. Frederick Jones will officiate.
Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Janes United Methodist Cemetery, Chestertown.
