HARBESON - Virginia "Carol" (Thames) Yetman, beloved wife, mother, sister and daughter, ascended peacefully into Heaven Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, in her home in Pinewater Farm, Harbeson, with her family by her side.

Mrs. Yetman and her husband moved to England, where they lived serving the Department of Defense for almost six years. Upon returning to the States, they moved to Maryland, where she was a bank manager. Through that career, she made many friends in the community. After retirement, the couple moved to Delaware. Mrs. Yetman then went to work in the Cape Henlopen School District office and the high-school office prior to becoming ill.

She was a friend to all and meant so much to everyone. She was an active woman who loved gardening, walking daily and playing the piano. She and her husband enjoyed traveling across the country in their motor home. She also loved to spend time with her three grandchildren - she was the perfect grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of almost 42 years, David F. Yetman, whom she married in 1966; a daughter and a son-in-law, Amanda and Bill Ludwig of Arizona; a son and a daughter-in-law, Steve and Tiffany Yetman of Maryland; three grandchildren, Colin Ludwig and Olivia Ludwig, both of Arizona, and Anna Yetman of Maryland; her mother, Drunetta Hammack of Alabama; two brothers, Charles Thames of Indiana and the Rev. James Otis Thames of Alabama; and a sister (her best friend) and a brother-in-law, Sara and Stan Achimon.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. today in Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour Entombment will be private in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947; or to Tunnell Cancer Center, 424 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
