EDMOND, Okla. - Viola S. "Vickie" Vaughan of Edmond, an irreplaceable wife and mother, went to heaven on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, after an extended illness. She was 73.
Vickie was born in 1934, in Dover, Del., where she grew up.
She met her husband, John "Jack" Vaughan, in Delaware and they were married in 1955. They were happily married for 52 years.
After raising her children, Vickie did work for many years outside of the home, most recently for General Computer Systems as a trainer. Because of that, she had countless friends across the country.
She will be most remembered for being her husband's "best buddy." They went everywhere together for as long as her health allowed.
Lately, Vickie loved watching Jack play senior softball, attending OU football and basketball games, including multiple bowl games, and attending numerous functions involving her grandchildren.
She was a lifelong incredible mother and grandmother and was the driving force in raising children who are successful in all the ways that matter.
Her legacy of love will last for generations.
Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, Caleb and Frances Seacord.
She is survived by her husband, Jack; son and daughter-in-law, John and Lana Vaughan; daughter and son-in-law, Virginia Vaughan and Tom McLish; grandchildren, Andrew, Ellen and Stephen Vaughan, and Monica and Alex Reddy; sister and brother-in-law, Justine and Frank Griffin; and many other family members and dear friends.
Her family graveside service will be private.
Her public memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, in Baggerley Funeral Home, Edmond, Okla.
Vickie loved flowers, alternatively, donations can be made to the NIH Liver Disease Research Branch.
