Viola Ford Everett, 92

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Viola Ford Everett, of Chestertown, died quietly on June 2, 2009, at Chester River Hospital Center. She was 92. She was born on Oct. 2, 1916, the daughter of the late Viola (Olie) and Anna Elizabeth (Bessie) Ford in Chestertown, the third of five daughters. She was a 1934 graduate of Chestertown High School. She worked as a sales clerk for many years at Bonnet's Department Store and Colonial Jewelers, both Chestertown businesses. She enjoyed reading, watching the Orioles and the Terps on TV; but most of all, she enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends. She will be remembered as a person who spoke to everyone she encountered and for her ability to make people laugh. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Marion Paul Everett in 1975 and her three sisters. She is survived by a son, Marion Paul (Chip) Everett and wife, Beth of Church Hill; two daughters, Brenda Cole of Smyrna, Del., and Sue Turner and husband Ray of Chestertown; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a sister, Agnes Ford Jewell of Centreville. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, June 7 at First United Methodist Church, Chestertown, where family and friends may call one hour prior to service. Interment in Chester Cemetery, Chestertown. Arrangements by Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 227, Chestertown, MD 21620, for their mission work in supporting our troops.
