Victoria 'Miss Vicki' (DeSanctis) Phillips, 89

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - Victoria "Miss Vicki" (DeSanctis) Phillips of Englewood, formerly of Millville, Del., died Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, in Englewood. She was 89.

Mrs. Phillips was born July 11, 1917, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Alfredo and Carmella DeSanctis.

She enjoyed bridge, gardening, dancing and had a special fondness for substitute teaching in the Indian River School District. Her smile, good humor and malice toward none are her legacy.

In addition to being a wonderful mother, Mrs. Phillips served as president of the Lord Baltimore Community Club, president of the Republican Women's Club and was founding member of the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Department's Women's Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Home Economics Club of Omar.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank H. Phillips Sr.; two brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, Deborah and Larry Tobe of Rotunda West; a son and a daughter-in-law, Frank H. Jr. and Brenda Phillips of Charlottesville, Va.; six grandchildren, Robert Messick, Enddy Messick, Amber Yohe, Abbigail Phillips, Frank H. Phillips III and Jennifer Bails; and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Bethany Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, West Avenue, Ocean View.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Ann's Catholic Church, Rt. 26, Bethany Beach.

Interment will be held in St. George's Cemetery, Clarksville.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Department's Women's Auxiliary, P.O. Box 950, Bethany Beach, DE 19930.
