DOVER - Veronica Bather, age 83, of Dover, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Silver Lake Center, Dover. Born in Hoboken, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Stephanie Mercurio. Veronica was a stay at home Mom and homemaker, and loved spending her time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, James Bather, Sr. Veronica is survived by her four sons, James Bather, Jr., Thomas Bather and wife, Deborah, William Bather, and Steven Bather and wife Laura; three grandchildren, Lauren Steen and husband Blake, Michael Bather, and Trevor Bather; two great-granddaughters, Grace and Lily Steen; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind two brothers, Stephen Mercurio and wife Carin, and George Mercurio. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Silver Lake Center, especially the nurses and aides, who lovingly care for Veronica during her stay there. "You are Angels." A Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the Church of The Holy Cross, 631 S. State St., Dover, where friends may call beginning at 12 p.m. Interment will follow in Lakeside M.E. Cemetery, Dover.
