Vernita Bergmeyer, 88

DOVER - Vernita Bergmeyer of Dover, formerly of Silver Springs, Md., died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, in Capitol Healthcare. She was 88.

Ms. Bergmeyer was born Sept. 21, 1917, in Beatrice, Neb., daughter of the late John and Marie Sykes Bergmeyer.

She was very well educated, had a wonderful and exciting career in Washington, D.C., where she worked at the Pentagon and later retired from the National Institute of Health.

Ms. Bergmeyer moved to Dover in 1988 where she continued to enjoy her retirement years with her sister, Phyllis and their faithful dog, Muffy.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing the daily crossword puzzles. No puzzle was too hard for her skills. She enjoyed watching "Wheel of Fortune," Court TV, and her favorite football team, the Washington Redskins.

Ms. Bergmeyer will be sadly missed by her extended family of close friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving sister, Phyllis Bergmeyer.

She is survived by her close friends, Peggy and John Bell of Dover, Nicole and Matt Wilson along with their children, Christian, Xavier and Brittany, all of Dover; Margie Galli and Peg and Lou Feitchner, all of Dover.

Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Trader Funeral Home Inc., 12 Lotus St., Dover.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Sharon Hill Memorial Park, Dover.
