DOVER - Thomas I. Moore, Jr. passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2018 in Courtland Manor Nursing Home. He has been reunited with his wife of 59 years, Bessie Ellen Mitchell Moore, who preceded him in death on Nov. 13, 2014.
He was born Nov. 30, 1931 in Dover to the late Thomas I. Moore, Sr. and Lola Mae Melvin Moore.
Mr. Moore was a proud graduate of Caesar Rodney High School, Class of 1949 and was thrilled to plan the 65th year reunion in 2014. He was a full-time member of the Delaware Army National Guard, retiring in 1987. He retired with the rank of CWO 4. Mr. Moore was recalled to active duty for them until December of 1991. He was active with Union Lodge #7 in Dover, where he was a past Master, he was also a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Scottish Rite of Delaware. Mr. Moore was involved with Nur Shriners Patrol and the children's screening clinics in Delaware and transports to the Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia.
Mr. Moore loved to fish, garden and refinish furniture and was a member of the Downs Chapel United Methodist Church. He was very proud of his family and tried to help them in many ways.
He is survived by his daughters, Karen Hudson and son-in-law Gary of Frederica, Renee Moore of Felton; grandchildren, Lydia Collins and her husband Jeramiah of Dover, Rebecca Bobola and her husband Ted of Hartly, Michael Lynch and his wife Mollie of Houston, Diana Reed and her husband Brian of Felton and Tim Hudson of Houston; great grandchildren, Chase, Bryson, Brant, Caden, Delana and Baby Bobola (Due in January).
Funeral services will be held 12 p.m., Friday, Sept. 7, 2018 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interment will be held in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons Research.
