SALISBURY, Md. - Thomas Dean Thompson of Salisbury died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, surrounded by his family at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. He was 43.
Born in Salisbury, he was the son of the Rev. Daniel Harvey Thompson and Ruth Ann Jackson Thompson.
Tom was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreigns War Meuse Post 194.
He was also a member of the Association of Fundamental Ministers and Churches Inc. and the Seyfert Camp Association.
Tom was a former member of the Salisbury Exchange Club and attended the Lighthouse Wesleyan Church in Fruitland.
He was very gifted in many areas, including truck driving, sales, plumbing, carpentry and cooking.
Tom was most recently employed as a bus driver with Shore Transit.
He was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan and a collector of sports memorabilia.
Tom had a great sense of humor, liked to play jokes, loved his family very much, was proud of his children and their accomplishments and cherished spending time with his grandson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lori L. Causey Thompson, whom he married on March 3, 1981; six children, Tim D. Thompson, Dean A. Thompson, Carli J. Bennett and her husband, Sgt. Michael Bennett, SPC David K. Thompson, Jenna B. Thompson, SRT Aaron Thompson and his special friend Ally Arvey, all of Salisbury; a grandson, Caleb D. Thompson of Salisbury; one expected grandson, Wyatt; two brothers, David H. Thompson and his wife Pam of Salisbury and Danny K. Thompson and his wife Cheryl of Crisfield; a father and mother-in-law, C. Allen and Carolyn J. Causey; two brothers-in-law, Kenny Causey and his friend Kara Bordeau and Carlton Causey and his wife Kim, all of Salisbury; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Cross Pointe Church of the Nazarene, 27765 Nanticoke Road, Salisbury.
There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Holloway Funeral Home, and also one hour prior to the service at church.
Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Daniels, the Rev. Wayne Holland, the Rev. Ronald Parker and the Rev. Cecil Gilmore.
Interment with military honors and dove release will follow at the Wicomico Memorial Park in Salisbury.
Contributions may be made in his memory to the Seyfert Camp, 6 Arbutus Court, Marlton, NJ 08053; and/or the Military Assistance Fund, VFW Post 194, 821 William St., Salisbury, MD 21804.
