CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Thomas A. Wheat Sr. of Chestertown died Wednesday, June 20, 2007, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown.

Mr. Wheat was born on Nov. 7, 1930, in Smithville near Worton, son of the late Robie James and Dorothy Hague Wheat.

He lived in Sudlersville for 46 years before returning to Kent County several years ago.

Mr. Wheat was a car salesman working for numerous car dealerships over his 36-year career.

He was past president of the Sudlersville Lions Club, served on the Sudlersville Town Council, and was a past member of Easton Moose Lodge 1520.

He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, cards, horse racing at Dover Downs and his cat, Tiger Tom.

He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Dalton Lee Davis.

Mr. Wheat is survived by his wife of 58 years, Evelyn Trolley Wheat; two daughters, Barbara W. George and her husband, Ted of Denton, and Mary Ginger Wheat of Sudlersville; a son, Thomas "Tay" Wheat Jr. of Smyrna, Del.; a brother, William Wheat of Enfield, Conn.; six grandchildren, Robert L. Frazier Jr., Michael Davis Sr., Heidi Davis, Thomas A. Wheat, III, Sgt. Travis Wheat, and Lauren Welden; and seven great-grandchildren, Robert L. Fraizer, III, Emma Wheat, Olivia Wheat, David Thomas Wheat, Michael Davis Jr., William Davis and Matthew Davis.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m., Sunday in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St. Galena.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday in St. James U.M. Church, Worton.

Burial will be held privately.

Memorials may be offered to St. James Church, c/o Rev. Ken Hickman, 23055 Parsons Rd. Chestertown, MD 21620.
