Teresa (Pauls) Emory, 65
CENTREVILLE, Md. - Teresa (Pauls) Emory of Centreville died Saturday, Oct., 6, 2007, in Chester River Hospital, Chestertown. She was 65.
Mrs. Emory, known to many as "Nana" or "Donnie," was born Oct. 2, 1943, at home in Queenstown, to the late Walter and Henrietta Pauls.
She was educated in the public schools of Queen Anne's County.
Mrs. Emory graduated from Kennard High School in 1961.
After high school she attended Apex Beauty School where she graduated in 1962, and moved on to attend Chesapeake College in Wye Mills.
In college, Mrs. Emory majored in secretarial science, which helped her get a jump start with her career at the Board of Education in Centreville. She was first hired to work in the Resource Center, but her dedication and determination made a direct path to executive secretary for the board of education, where she was employed for 37 years until her death.
Some of Mrs. Emory's involvements included being a member of the King and Queen Club, Grasonville, and being a member of the Usher Board and choir at Charles Welsey United Methodist Church, Centreville.
One of her favorite pastimes was attending the annual Black & Silver Scholarship Ball given by the Cavaliers Club, Dover, Del.
Mrs. Emory enjoyed life.
Her family was her everything. PJ was her heart. Her life was truly a family affair to include arguing with Walter over Tina's strawberry cake.
Mrs. Emory loved collecting angels.
In her spare time she would always find happiness working on her plants in the yard.
Mrs. Emory was a pro at finding four leaf clovers.
Her life was a blessing that touched many and she will be missed dearly.
She was a special person who will be missed by many, especially her Aunt Evelyn Heath.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Emory was preceded in death by a mother-in-law, Hattie Emory; and a brother-in-law, Frederick Wright.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Gordon Paul Emory Sr.; her only child, Gordon Paul Emory Jr.; her siblings, Shirley P. Haney, James E. Pauls, Gloria L. Ferguson, Walter J. Pauls III, William F. Pauls Sr., Larry E. Pauls Sr. and Terry Pauls Smith; nine sisters-in-laws, Willie Mae Pauls, Geraldine Pauls, Mary Pauls, Dottie Pauls, Francis Emory, Blondinia Emory, Cynthia Ryans, Linda (Gary) Brummell and Bertina Emory; three brothers-in-law, Charles Emory, Kevin Smith Sr. and Gary Emory; a goddaughter, Alicia Dodd; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other loved ones; and two borrowed grandchildren, Superia and Ethan.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday in New Life United Methodist Church, Centreville, where friends may call two hours prior.
Burial will be at the Chesterfield Cemetery, Centreville.
