Sylvester T. Brittingham

FRANKFORD - Sylvester Thomas "Vess" Brittingham departed this life on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, Md. Born in Berlin, Md., he was the son of the late Clifton Leonard and Hazel Purnell Briddell. His wife, Anita L. Brittingham, also preceded him in death. Mr. Brittingham was a member of Antioch A.M.E. Church. Prior to retiring, he worked as a mechanic at the Stockley Center in Georgetown. He will be lovingly remembered by four sons, Anthony W. Smith (Theresa), Lenny S. Brittingham, Denny T. Brittingham (Robbin), and Tawny L. Brittingham (Trevino); one brother, William Purnell (Romona); four sisters, Pearline Henry, Jacqueline Ayres (Isaac), Delores Dennis (Alfred), and Joyce Holden; an uncle who was like a brother, Robert Johnson; three other uncles; another brother-in-law, Frederick Poole; another sister-in-law, Barbara Brittingham; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Leroy Brittingham; and one grandson, Robert T. Brittingham. Mr. Brittingham will lie in repose on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Antioch A.M.E. Church, 194 Clayton Avenue, Frankford. The funeral service will begin at 12 p.m. Rev. Dania Griffin is the host pastor and Rev. Zakiya Griffin will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. A ministry of comfort and dignity is being provided by Lewis N.
