Susan Morrison Smith, 87

Posted

Susan Morrison Smith passed away peacefully on September 6, 2026.
Susan was a woman of remarkable strength, independence, and determination. She devoted her life to her family, raising her three sons while pursuing her education and building a career of her own. She devoted more than 30 years to the State of Delaware as a social worker, helping countless individuals and families through her service and commitment to others. In every challenge, she met life with courage, resilience, and an unwavering belief that better days were ahead.
A true nature lover, Susan found happiness in the woods surrounding her home, where she enjoyed the quiet beauty of wildlife and the changing seasons. She was also a talented knitter and needleworker, creating handmade treasures that will be cherished by her family for generations.
She is survived by her sons, Scott D. Bartlett, Stephen Y. Bartlett, and Cameron C. Bartlett; and by her beloved grandchildren, Stephen Y. Bartlett Jr., Kaitlin Bentley, Sebastian Bartlett Fernandez, Lyle J. Bartlett, and sister Terry Warthen.
Susan will be remembered for her warm heart, quick wit, infectious laugh, and extraordinary ability to find hope and beauty in every season of life.
While our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing that her love remains a part of us. She will be remembered with gratitude, missed beyond words, and loved beyond measure.
We will see her whenever the sun filters through the trees, whenever we hear birdsong in the woods, and whenever we find beauty in the quiet moments she treasured so deeply.
