FELTON - Susan M. Herrmann passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 12, 2022.
Susan was born to the late George C. and Dorothy T. (Burke) Ennis on May 1, 1954 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
For 15 years, Susan worked for the State of Delaware in the Department of Communications for Homeland Security until her retirement in May 2019. She worked for a total of 49 years and was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.
All the more, her dedication to her children and family was paramount throughout her life. While a private person at times, she was a good conversationalist and always ready to lend an ear. In her younger years, she enjoyed boating and fishing, and attending her children's Little League games. She loved to shop, and took great pleasure in finding decorations for her home for every season. She pulled out all the stops for Christmas in particular. In her later years, her life was constantly filled with the joy and love her beloved nine grandchildren brought her.
In addition to her parents; Susan was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Herrmann, Jr.; her brothers, Timothy and Gregory Ennis; her parents-in-law, Edward A. and Alice S. Herrmann; and her brother-in-law, Gary F. Herrmann.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 41 years, Joseph L. Herrmann, Sr.; her son, George T. Herrmann, Sr. and wife, Samantha; her daughter, Danielle D. Yoder and husband, Stephen; her brother, John Patrick Ennis; her grandchildren, Connor, Nicholas, Julieann, George Jr., Brantley, Katelyn, Colton, Caden, and Joseph Christopher; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022 at 12 noon in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, DE 19947. At 10 a.m. a time of visitation will be held for friends and family. Interment will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, Del.
