Steven Wayne Driver, 46

CRUMPTON - Steven Wayne Driver, 46, of Crumpton, died Monday, July 27, 2009, at home, due to a long illness of cancer. Steven was born on Feb. 22, 1963, in Elkton, son of the late Jesse M. Driver Sr., and Mary Louise Howard Driver. He had worked for Chester River Boat Sales as a mechanic and tow truck and bus driver, Clarks Marine, MICA Farms; farming and for the last 5 years as a truck driver for TB's Trucking in Grasonville. He also delivered papers for the Delaware State News. Steven was a 15 year member of the Crumpton Vol. Fire Dept, currently serving as their President, he also held numerous positions including asst. chief engineer, chief engineer and bingo chairman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking pictures and spending time with his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He is survived by his wife of 10 years and companion of 25, Lisa Purnell-Driver; two sisters, Barbara Pratt and husband Jay of Bridgeville, Del., and Donna Walls and husband Louis of Sudlersvillle; a brother, Jesse M. Driver, Jr. of Kennedyville; four nieces, Sherry, Jennifer, Heidi and Shania; three nephews, Jason, James, and Matthew; three great-nieces, Jenna, Ashley, and Samantha; and two great-nephews, Joey and Jason, Jr.; and his extended Crumpton Vol. Fire Dept. Family. A funeral service will 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 2, in the Crumpton Vol. Fire Dept., Crumpton, where friends may call two hours prior. Burial in Crumpton Cemetery.
