MILLSBORO - Shirley Holbrook died peacefully on Dec. 25, 2017 at home in Millsboro, with her daughter at her side.
Shirley was born May 29, 1943 in Marion Station, Md., the daughter of the late Minnie Soil Holbrook and Thomas Whittington.
Shirley attended school in Haleyville, N.J. She worked at Millville Hospital for many years. "Sidekick" as she was fondly called by her close friends and "Aunt Shirley" by the neighborhood children, loved laughing and joking. She also loved getting together with family and friends to cut up and play cards. For many years her nieces enjoyed spending summers with their "Aunt Shirley" and she enjoyed having them.
Shirley was preceded in death by her stepfather, Irving Holbrook; and sister, Annette Holbrook.
She leaves many fond memories with her daughter, Gail Jones (Millsboro); grandson, Todd Wilson Jr. (Georgetown); one brother, Warren Soil (Crisfield, Md.); two sisters, Dianna Holbrook (Salisbury, Md.), and Ella Holbrook (Baltimore, Md.).
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017 at 12 p.m. at Pilgrims Ministry of Deliverance, 25053 DuPont Blvd, Georgetown, Delaware 19947.
