DOVER - (Ret.) SGT. Pharon Bashir Hameed passed away, Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2018 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Pharon was born Feb. 19, 1974 in Long Beach, Calif. to Sahirah Johnson and the late Ta-Lib Eugene Avery.
He served in the Delaware Army National Guard full time since moving to Delaware in 2001 in the IT department. Pharon enjoyed sports, especially the Eagles and the Georgia Bull Dogs, he also enjoyed bowling and being in leagues. Pharon loved going on family vacations and reconnecting with family. He was a member of the UNITED Church.
Pharon is survived by his wife, Michelle Hameed of Dover; children, Brianna and Deshawn Hameed both of Dover; mother, Sahirah Hameed; and father figure, William Lipscomb of Media, Pa.; uncle, Anton Johnson and wife Cheryl; siblings, Malakeyah Hameed, Craig Lipscomb, Eugene Avery, Wayne Williams, Connie Jackson and husband Kelly, Cynthia James, La-Tasha McGiffert-Poole and husband Alexander Poole, II; mother-in-law, Anna Greenage; brother-in-law, John Greenage and wife Abigail; best friend, Vincenzo Marra, Jr. and wife Christina and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019 at Calvary Church, 1141 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover, DE 19901. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
Due to Pharon's belief that his children receive a Christian education, the family suggests contributions be made to Calvary Christian Academy, 1141 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover, DE 19901 in lieu of flowers.
