MILFORD - Sarah A. Carter, of Milford, passed away on Monday, Feb. 21, 2011, at Milford Center. She was 82. Sarah was born in Milford, the daughter of the late James Henry and Nellie (Collins) Lynch. She was a cafeteria worker in Milford School District for 22 years, retiring in 1991. She has been a member of the Avenue U.M. Church since 1941. She enjoyed collecting Longaberger baskets, cherished Teddy's and was on the committee to make the Ladybug the state bug of Delaware. She also enjoyed shopping and going to lunch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Alpheus and Warren Lynch. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Alan E. Carter; two daughters, Deborah A. Morgan and her husband Richard of Lincoln and Dawn A. Kolbe and her husband John, Jr. of Seaford; a brother, Harry B. Lynch and his wife Phil of Milford; two grandchildren, Kelly M. Whaley and husband Michael B. and Kerry M. Kolbe; one great-grandchild, Mikel J. "Carter" Whaley; and one niece, Sharon Ann Laverty of Dover. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call after noon. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimers Assoc., P.O. Box 625, Georgetown, DE 19947, or the Avenue U.M. Church, 20 N. Church St., Milford, DE 19963.
