WILMINGTON - Sara M. Ward of Luther Towers, Wilmington died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2007, in Wilmington Hospital. She was 91.
Mrs. Ward was born in Milford, daughter of the late Robert and Alice (Bailey) McColley.
She was a secretary and clerk with DuPont Co. in the engineering department for 25 years.
Mrs. Ward enjoyed knitting, crocheting and playing the slots.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward C. Ward; three brothers, Roland McColley, Harlan McColley and Delbert McColley; and a sister, Helen Roberts.
She is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Robert C. and Laura Ward of Pensacola, Fla.; four grandchildren, Tony Ward of Newark, and Deborah K. Ward, Donna M. Benton and Jennifer C. Ward, all of Baltimore; five great-grandchildren, Daniel Hackley, Joshua Morris, Michael Benton, Anthony Ward, Sean Ward and Ryan Ward; two nieces, Lauren Hall of Lexington, N.C., and Susan Mitchell of Orlando, Fla.; and two dear friends, Ethel Phillips and Harriet Davis.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Milford Memorial Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to a local fire, police or rescue squad of choice.
