Brown, 93 LINCOLN - Samuel Stokes Brown, 93, formerly of Little Plymouth, Virginia and East Orange, New Jersey, passed on March 28, 2016 at the Delaware Hospice Center surrounded by his family of Lincoln, Del. A retired printer, he was born in Virginia on December 19, 1922. He was the youngest of seven children born to the late Annie Thomas and Sidney Brown. Mr. Brown served in the United States Army during WWII and was awarded a Bronze Star Victory Medal. He received his bachelor's degree from Hampton Institute, now Hampton University. He is survived by a devoted wife, Thorris; one sister, Annie Robinson (Julian); two stepsons, Robert Young (Velma) and Gonzelous Young, Sr.; two stepdaughters, Peggi Watson and Jacqueline Young; and one adopted daughter, Thorris Banks. Also surviving, a loving niece, Deborah Robinson; two nephews, William Hobson, Jr., and Julian Robinson, Jr.; three great nephews, Phillip Winkfield, Jamal Hobson, and Drew Hobson; two great nieces, Alana Hobson and Erin Winkfield; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 23115 Slaughter Neck Road, Lincoln, Delaware 19960. Viewing 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services begin at 1 p.m. Burial will take place at the Old Hickory Cemetery, Lincoln, Del. All services entrusted to McPherson Funeral Services, Inc. in Milford.
