Samuel L. 'Sam' Smith, 75 DOVER - Samuel L. "Sam" Smith, 75, entered eternal rest on Feb. 21, 2010, at Delaware home and Hospice in Milford. Born on Jan. 29, 1935, in Jenkins, Ga., he was the son of the late Premer and Irene Smith. Sam received his basic education from the Jenkins County School District. Soon after, Sam and his siblings moved to Delaware where he resided for over 50 years. For many years Sam worked as a carpenter perfecting his craft. As a man of character, Sam loved his family and friends. As health would permit, Sam faithfully attended Holy Trinity Church Of The Living God. A Glorious milestone in his life was being certain of his salvation by continually calling on the name of Jesus. Those left to cherish wonderful memories are three daughters, Brenda Boardley (Alvin) of Bear, Angela Cobb (Bennie) of Dover, and Erica Doctor (Ramaun) of Dover; one loving and devoted brother, Elder John (Pastor Martha) Smith of Dover; three sisters, Everene Wright of Leesburg, Fla., Elvenlene (James) Piper of Ellendale, and Martha (Curtis) Sample of Leesburg, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one adopted son, Kenneth Gwynn of Dover; a devoted friend, Gwynn Young; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends Services will be 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, at Holy Trinity Church of The Living God, 425 W. Division St., Dover, where friends may call two hours prior to services.Ministry of Comfort provided by Young & McPherson Funeral Homes.
