Samuel 'Sam' Fredrick Bontrager, 23

CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Samuel "Sam" Fredrick Bontrager, of Chestertown, died Friday, May 16, 2008, in San Francisco, Caif. He was 23.

Sam was born March 15, 1985, in Chestertown, son of Fredrick S. Bontrager and Lisa (Hague) Bontrager.

Sam worked as an independent carpenter for the past seven years.

He frequently visited San Francisco and loved to travel to different cities.

He also enjoyed fishing, skateboarding, working on cars, playing his guitar, cooking and building things.

Sam was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Bill Hague and Samuel Bontrager.

He is survived by his parents, Lisa Hague Bontrager and her friend Eliza Abbey of Millington and Fredrick S. Bontrager of Chestertown; one sister, Christina Bontrager of Betterton; maternal grandmother, Anne Hague of Elizabethtown, Pa.; paternal grandmother, Tilly Bontrager of Still Pond; and three uncles, Billy Hague Jr. of Crystal Beach, Bobby Hague of Florida and Michael Hague of Mesquite, Nev.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 370 W. Cypress St., Millington, where friends and family may call one hour prior.

Interment will follow at Millington Asbury Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the charity of choice.
