Sally Hewes, 70

SMYRNA - Sally Hewes, of Smyrna, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, May 27, 2008. She was 70.

Born in Cheswold on March 5, 1938, she was the daughter of Florence (Streets) Timmons of Clayton and the late Earl E. Timmons Sr.

Mrs. Hewes retired from Playtex after 38 years of service.

She was a devoted mother and enjoyed her grandchildren, decorating, cooking, watching the Phillies games and NASCAR races.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Hewes Jr. in 2002; a sister, Virginia Heverin; and two brothers, John Brown and Ralph Timmons.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by a daughter, Louise Holt and her husband Terry, and their daughter Elizabeth of Milford; a son, Steven Hewes in Dover; a daughter, Susan Ball and her husband William, and their children Willie and Angela in Aston, Pa.; a sister, Betty Jolly; six brothers, Earl Timmons Jr., James Timmons, Thomas Timmons, Roland Timmons, William Timmons, and Paul Timmons; as well as many relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where family and friends may visit one hour prior to service.

Interment will follow at Old Drawyers Cemetery, Odessa.

Instead of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901; or to the ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter, 321 Norristown Road, Suite 260, Ambler, PA 19002.
