MILFORD - Ruth S. Harris, of Milford, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, in the Milford Center. She was 86.
Mrs. Harris was born in Haddon Heights, N.J. on Dec. 6, 1921, the daughter of Sydney and Muriel Phillips Supplee.
She was a 1943 graduate of the University of North Carolina with a bachelor's degree in history and education.
In 1945, she married Ernest J. Ingle who was in the U.S. Air Force and they did a lot of traveling. Ernest passed away in 1983.
Mrs. Harris started her teaching career in the Capital School District in 1966.
In 1975, she went to teach at the Capitol Baptist School, Dover, and was honored as Teacher Of The Year in 1977.
In 1991, she married William F. Harris, he passed away in 1998.
Mrs. Harris was a loving mother and grandmother, and cherished her close friends. She enjoyed her church and reading.
She was a member of New Life Baptist Church, Milford.
She is survived by one son, Sydney James Ingle and his wife Linda of Kure Beach, N.C.; two grandsons, Timothy Ingle and his wife Jill of Houston, Texas and Mark Ingle of Phoenix.
Celebration of Life Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Fleischauer Funeral Home, West Market Street, Greenwood, where family will receive friends one hour before the service.
Interment will be private at a later date.
Donations may be made to Delaware Hospice, 20116 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
