Ruth Hollinger Burnette

BOWERS BEACH - Ruth Hollinger Burnette, of Bowers Beach, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was 75. She was born July 31, 1935, in Bowers Beach, to the late Thomas M. Hollinger and Minnie Thomas Hollinger. Mrs. Burnette worked most of her life as a waitress and later in life became a CNA in the home health care industry retiring in 2007. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her children and grandchildren as well as walking on the beach. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Burnette, 2007; her son, Robert Collier, 2007; and her grandson, Nathan Hughes, 2010. Mrs. Burnette is survived by her four children, Teresa Mullins and her husband David, Sharon Roberts and her husband Louis, Max Collier, and Michael Collier, all of Bowers Beach; two brothers, Thomas Hollinger and his wife Linda of Dover, and James Hollinger of Rehoboth; two sisters, Sandy Harrison and her husband Ralph of Georgetown, and Mary Price of O'Katie, S.C.; 13 grandchildren, Chuck Shelton and his wife Julia of Harrington, Gary Boyle and Jennifer Hughes of Bowers Beach, Breonne Mitchell and her husband Duane of Smyrna, Angela Sheppard and her husband Robert of Felton, Michael Field of Bowers Beach, Catherine Barnes of Felton, John Williams and Kaylee Collier of Milford, Crystal Collier, Joshua Collier, Robert Collier, all of Wilmington, Dominique Collier of Harrington, and Buster Roberts of Felton; five great-grandchildren, Tyler and Shelby Shelton, both of Harrington, Tymber Mitchell of Smyrna, and Mars Barnes of Felton, and Joseph Michael Collier of Wilmington. Funeral services will be noon, Friday, Nov. 19, 2010, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to noon. Interment will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963. Letters of Condolence may be sent and guest books signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
