Ruth C. Hogan

DOVER - Ruth C. Hogan, passed away Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, in her home. She was 85. She was born on May 29, 1926 in Bayonne, N.J., daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Boyle) O'Brien. Ruth C. Hogan was a devoted military wife for over 60 years to her husband Frank Hogan. In addition, she was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Throughout her life of 85 years, she enjoyed numerous hobbies and shopping. Ruth will always be remembered by her family and friends for her quick wit, zest for life and fighting spirit. She is preceded in death by her husband, Francis Hogan; two sisters, Janet O'Brien-McDermott and Delores McCarthy; and two brothers, John O'Brien and Vincent O'Brien. Ruth is survived by a son, John Hogan and his wife Cindy of Duluth, Ga.; a daughter, Colleen Shotzberger and her husband George of Millington, Md.; grandchildren, Shannon Magill, John Hogan Jr. both of Duluth, Ga., and Shawn Shotzberger of Townsend; and a great-grandchild, Morgan Shotzberger. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Breast Cancer Coalition, 165 Commerce Way, Dover, Delaware 19901 in Ruth's Memory.
