Ruth Anna Evans

Ruth Anna Evans, 84

LINCOLN - Ruth Anna Evans, of Lincoln, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Anna's Elder Care, Lincoln. She was 84.

Mrs. Evans was born in Felton, daughter of the late Ralph and Ina Hurd.

She retired from General Foods in 1986 after 20 years of service in the production line.

In her younger years, Mrs. Evans grew a large vegetable garden and her bountiful harvest was canned, frozen or given away to friends and family.

She also grew tulips and her tulip garden was well known and the envy of the neighborhood.

Mrs. Evans was an avid NASCAR fan and her favorite driver was anyone driving a Ford.

She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and wife whose children were her life, and she always put their needs before her own.

Mrs. Evans was a lifetime member of the Frederica Ladies Auxiliary Station 49, and a former member of the Harrington Moose.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Donald Evans of Frederica; son, Kevin L. Evans and his special friend Juanita Yaeger of Frederica; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn A. and Glenn Lyon of Frederica; brother, Carrol Hurd of Dover; special and dear longtime friend, Robin Rentz of Frederica; and a special friend and caretaker, Anna Mae Paradis of Lincoln, whose home and tenants served as Mrs. Evans' extended family.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington, where friends may call one hour prior.

Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
